Pimples

Causes, Prevention and Treatment of Pimples

Pimples, also known as zits or spots are small papules or pustules; small acne lesions or inflammation of the skin.

The oil glands (sebaceous glands) on the skin are infected with bacteria, become inflamed, and then fill up with pus.

Pimples are caused when the sebaceous glands located at the base of hair follicles become overactive.

The most vulnerable parts of the body are the face, back, chest and shoulders.

These acne lesions are symptoms of a skin condition known as acne. They show up when a breakout occurs.

Acne is a skin condition that causes whiteheads, blackheads, and inflamed red growths (papules, pustules, and cysts) to form. These growths are commonly called pimples or zits.

Many people have suffered from acne at some point in their life. It is a very common skin condition.

Teenagers are most vulnerable to it due to the hormonal changes going on in their body.

If you are a teenager troubled by acne, pay more attention to your skin care routine. Here are some skin care tips for teens.

However, pimples can affect anybody including adults. A lot really depends on the hormonal activities in your body, heredity and hygiene. Your lifestyle can play a role on whether you have clear glowing skin.

How to get rid of Pimples?

Here are some steps on how to get rid of those unsightly pimples:

STEP 1 – Clean Your Face

A combination of hormonal activity, a buildup of bacteria and the shedding of dead skin cells causes pimples. Establish a skin care routine appropriate for your skin type.

Wash your face with a gentle, oil-free and fragrance-free facial cleanser. Choose one that is non-detergent and labeled pH balanced. If you have very oily skin, use a cleanser that contains benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid.

If you looking for a facial wash that will help you with your pimple prone skin, try the Adovia Dead Sea Mud SoapAdovia Dead Sea Mud Soap. It gently cleanses away oil, bacteria and dirt particles, leaving the skin purified, detoxified and fully cleansed.

Enriched with century old Dead Sea mud, it removes dirt and cleanses your skin, while simultaneously infusing it with minerals essential to keeping your skin hydrated and moisturized. This soap has been found effective at relieving acne.

Use a mud or clay mask as often as every three days to absorb excess oil.

Looking for a good mud mask? Try the Adovia Purifying Dead Sea Mud Mask. It has been formulated with mud extracted from the Dead Sea, Vitamin C and Aloe Vera.

The mask works to extract oil and other debris from the skin, leaving behind a glowing, healthy skin. As the mask dries, it gently pulls out toxins and impurities that can contribute to clog pores.

STEP 2 – Treat It

Apply a topical acne treatment containing benzoyl peroxide, glycolic acid, or salicylic acid over your entire face, not just where pimples have already erupted.

At night, use a drying spot-treatment product and dab oil-free moisturizer on dry areas. In the morning, apply an oil-free sunscreen gel over the entire face.

If a pimple pops up 2 days before a major event such as your wedding, you can ask your doctor to give you a cortisone injection to stop redness and swelling.

If you can't get to your dermatologist (or if needles make you squeamish), temporarily reduce redness and swelling by dabbing on a drop of drugstore cortisone cream, Preparation H, or Vasocon-A eyedrops.
